Warner Bros. has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Minecraft movie, and it’s already getting people talking. The trailer is set to the Beatles’ “Magical Mystery Tour” and focuses on this new world where creativity makes art. Deadline written by Kim and starring Jack Black in his first leading role (with Jason Momoa in another prominent role), the film is also produced by Starlight. The movie will be an enjoyable journey of discovery into the legendary MineCraft dice world.
The teaser shows the movie’s brightly colored environments and more whimsical elements (square sheep, flying pigs). Steve is played by Jack Black, whose brother joins him occasionally, and flaming arrows are launched at a blazing fast pace (all for your entertainment). At the same time, Jason Momoa & more stars navigate the adventure.
But it has met with resistance. Others were not so enthusiastic about the look of the movie. Many viewers have pointed out that the difference between live-action actors and CGI can be quite jarring, though it’s certainly an improvement over when Warner Brothers wanted to do the production entirely in block form. The trailer also does not give a real sense of the plot, leaving people wondering if there will be one at all.
Nonetheless, fears about the project or not, a Minecraft movie is expected to be an absolute blockbuster when it finally hits theatres on April 25, 2025. Unless you are a true Minecraft aficionado or, like me, think this could be an interesting concept, do not expect the typical movie stories to come to fruition here.
